Some pictures I have taken over the past two months
Here are a few pictures from a maternity session, newborn & 3 month old session. More pics to come once I look them over...
Now that my workshops are over and as I get my business up and running here are some examples of where my style sits at now! I love how I am developing my own style and I am getting more and more comfortable with my camera and love seeing the results of my hard work!

Portraits...with a Barbie Family!
Our latest exercise was to take portraits of a family that isn't living!
Your client is a family, and you need to get a set of pictures that includes but isn't limited to:
a) just Mom & Dad
b) the kids together
c) each kid individually
d) the entire family
Dad wasn't a member of the family until the 2nd shoot, lol...and the littlest girl just wouldn't co-operate in individual pictures (aka I just shot and forgot to check the types of pics I needed, lol).
Lastly, the one above is my favorite family picture.

This one above of mom and baby girl is one of my favorites!
This was a fun exercise and my girls loved playing with the barbies (although a few times I had to say give it back, lol) and both were happy to get a new Ken doll.
Happy Easter everyone!

Portraiture Workshop
What a fun day, but I won't be ashamed to admit it was difficult working with so many photographers all trying to get in and snap pictures! lol
I regret that I didn't get a chance to photograph the boys and their mom, I went inside as they were coming out and the few I did take inside just aren't good, so sorry!
I was happy to play with my brand new 50mm f1.4 lens, but with that it came a bit of learning and lots of pics that didn't turn out. These are all unedited as I am just at the beginning stages of teaching myself photoshop and it is proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be.
Any comments would be appreciated...I apologize for the green screen, haven't figured out yet how to replace it!
Thank you so much to all the families and kids for allowing us to snap away and photograph your beautiful families!

Metering Madness
First of all I just have to share the picture that I took with Hope spelling her name...which she supposedly didn't do intentionally...it just came out with all her scribbling in a 3.2 second shutter speed. Pretty cool...
Okay, so this week's exercise was to work with metering...to tell you the truth not much needed to be done with the AE +/- but I did play around with the aperature lock quite a bit.
This was my first photo, I loved it after only 3 pictures taken. Without locking in it was 1/100 and f5.
This one was a little trickier, it was taken 1/10 and f5...I love the lighting and I was focused on the buckle so the edges are a little blurry and not as hard which I really like!
The black on black was a bit harder than the whites, my black stool fabric sometimes turned out to look more brownish...so I had to play a little bit and I actually turned my lights off and just used the natural daylight. Taken at 1/13 and f5 focused on the buckle again...it was taken with +.7 AE. I actually like this 2nd picture better as this one was too bright.
Taken with 1/25 and f5, no AE +/- which I think makes the picture look darker and more mysterious.
I like this the best...has an almost weightless feel to it. It was taken with 1/5 and f4.5 with a +.7 AE.
This one was taken with 1/5 and f5 it has a little more hardness to the edge and shading, I again like it but think the effect of the first one is more my taste...
Great fun to play with...but so hard to find a black or white surface! lol
